Tyler Martin, MSE, LPC-IT – Collaborative Wellness

Hello! My name is Tyler and I believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. If you trust me, we can work to make the changes in your life that you desire. I do not judge who you are or where you came from-my concern is whether you are living the life you want to live. From my own experience, I believe the real indicator to making life meaningful comes not from “Where have you been?”, but “Where are you going?”.

I have been with the Collaborative Wellness team since February 2018. My supervisors, Linda Richards and Lindsay Loewe, helped me learn to work with clients from elementary school all the way to late adulthood. I believe our families of origin greatly influence our functioning and responses to stress. But I also know that we can change our reactions to stressful events/people through deeper understandings of ourselves, and the ways we treat ourselves can protect us or hinder us (or somewhere in between). I utilize CBT, family-systems and existential theory, and play therapy in sessions.

Sometimes things happen in life that we cannot expect or prevent. Sometimes our brains respond in ways that leave us stuck in a rut. The beautiful thing about life and hardships is that if we are still here, we can have control over our lives and recoveries.
