Jaycie Westphal – Collaborative Wellness
Hi there! I am currently a second-year student in the Professional Counseling program at UW-Oshkosh. Prior to my graduate studies, I attended UW-River Falls where I majored in psychology with an emphasis in mental health. I had a very influential professor who said, “we all experience problems more or less”. These words resonated with me, and as I repeated his message, I came to believe the accuracy of his statement: we all do experience problems, and we all deserve support through them. The beauty of the counseling profession is its openness towards human struggle. From the day we are born, we learn strategies to react, cope, and survive through our struggles. When these strategies are no longer effective for us, our problems can feel overwhelming and permanent. That’s why I love counseling because it allows us to view our struggles from a new perspective, and investigate which strategies work, and which strategies no longer work. I have a passion to work with individuals from a variety of developmental ages and problems, with particular interest in trauma and mental health struggles. However big or small you feel your problems are, my hope is to provide you with support wherever you are in your journey.
